Parallel Session III: Creativity and Design Thinking for School Leaders
Our schools, teachers, and school leaders are in desperate need for change and transformation. Educators can get inspiration from the world of Silicon Valley (i.e. firms like Pixar, Google, Ideo, and Apple); where innovation and design thinking are ingrained in the fabric of daily life in business organisations. We will not limit ourselves within the traditional discipline of education; instead we will have innovative and futuristic perspectives on schools, education, learning, and school leadership.
In today’s global, rapidly changing world, learning and experimenting with creativity and design thinking skills is one of the smartest investments that school leaders can make to advance their schools and improve educational outcomes. The objective of this workshop is to inspire school leaders to engage and experiment with design thinking skills through a range of activities and brainstorming exercises aimed at developing imaginative and collaborative capabilities.
This is an applied vision and skill development workshop; focusing on the development of imaginative and creative skill sets for school leaders of the 21st century. The exercises and examples will help participants appreciate and prepare for increasing complexity and paradox of the new world of schools and education in the light of social, cultural, economic, and technological changes in the global landscape.
